OK, in the last four weeks, I’ve been re-embracing the art world around me. I gave up lifelong painting at 19. My dad died. Life moved on. Film flickers on the reels. I just want to be kind of normal. Make a lot of money directing big budget films. But that’s not going to be happening. Not today, anyway. Scot and I are already talking about purchasing a vintage dryer for photography and another one to be sawed off for lights and paint. Luc Tuymans is one of the best painters I’ve seen in a long time. Just makes me feel good. Figurative. Political. Giant walls. Solvent. Paint everywhere. Darkroom in the closet. Don’t expect to be normal anymore. Dave, it’s time for your stress pill. Oh boy. Life has plans for you, no matter what you think. So just go with the seasons. Sometimes it’s a bitch, but sometimes it’s a wonderland.
